An update to the PlayStation®4 system software was released on January 13, 2016. Use this update to install system software version 3.15.

Always update your PS4™ system to the latest version of the system software. By updating, you can enjoy additional features, improved usability, and enhanced security.

New for 3.15

This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.

New for 3.11

System software stability during use of some features has been improved.

New for 3.10
  • You can now follow verified accounts of games as well as verified accounts of people and companies that are associated with games. When you follow these accounts, you can keep track of their activities in [What’s New]. Select [Follow] in the profile screen of the verified account.
  • A new sticker has been added to  (Messages).
New for 3.00
  • (Events) has been added. Select (Events) from the function screen to find and join events that are being held for specific games as well as events for official gameplay broadcasts.
  • (Communities) has been added. Communities are places where you can play games, meet other players who have similar interests and preferences, or just talk. Select  (Friends) >  (Communities) from the function screen to create a new Community or find and join an existing Community.
  • You can now easily search for games or parties that other players are participating in by selecting [Now Playing] in [What’s New], (Friends),  (Messages), or Communities. View a list of the game sessions and parties that Friends and members are enjoying at that time and select options such as joining a game session or watching another player’s live broadcast.
  • You can now send a request to watch another player’s gameplay. The player who receives the request can share their gameplay by broadcasting or by using Share Play. To send a request, select [Now Playing] in [What’s New],   (Friends),   (Messages), or Communities, and then select [Request to Watch].
  • The following features have been added to  (Messages). The screen layout has also been improved.
    • You can create groups of Friends to receive messages. You can name groups and assign images to groups.
    • View games or parties that other members are participating in at any particular time.
    • Start a party with other members.
    • Send stickers.
    • Add groups that you often communicate with to your list of Favorite Groups. You can check your Favorite Groups in   (Friends).
  • It’s now possible to broadcast your gameplay on YouTube™.
  • You can now upload video clips to Twitter (10-second limit).
Other new or revised features in version 3.00

Share

  • View a list of video clips and screenshots that others are sharing in system-updates-live-from-playstation-ico  (Live from PlayStation). The screen layout has also been improved.
  • Post comments about activities.
  • Set the length of a video clip that you want to save to 30 seconds.

Settings

  • [Auto-Scroll Speed] has been added to   (Settings) > [Accessibility]. Also, more system functions now support accessibility settings.
  • You can now confirm age level and rating icon information when setting up Parental Controls for games. Select    (Settings) > [Parental Controls] > [Restrict Use of PS4 Features] > [Games]. *1
  • [Web Filter] has been added to   (Settings) > [Parental Controls] > [Restrict Use of PS4 Features]. Use this web filtering service to automatically prevent dangerous or harmful sites from being displayed. *2
  • You can now enable pop-up notifications for the following:
    • Community
    • Requests to Watch Gameplay
    • Events
    • Current Song

To enable notifications, select   (Settings) > [Notifications].

Other

  •  (PlayStation®Plus) has been added to the function screen. You can easily see the latest information about special offers or promotions and purchase subscriptions.
  • You can now use PlayStation®App*3 to sign in to PlayStation™Network when you log in to the PS4™ system as a guest. Using a device with PlayStation®App installed, you can sign in without having your sign-in ID and password displayed to others by scanning the code that is displayed on the PS4™ system.
  • You can now create a sub account by selecting [New User] when you log in to the PS4™ system.

  • Do not download or install the update using data other than the official update file provided online by Sony Computer Entertainment. Do not download or install updates by methods other than those described in the system documentation or on this website. If you download or install update data from a different source, by a different method, or on a system that has been altered or modified in any way, the system might not operate properly and might not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions can void the system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Computer Entertainment.
  • Do not install system software soon before or soon after a power outage.

System Software

The system software of the PS4™ system and system software updates installed on your system are subject to a limited license from Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Visit http://www.scei.co.jp/ps4-eula/ for details.

Update Methods

You can update the system software of the PS4™ system by any of the methods described below. To confirm that the update was completed successfully, once update process is completed, go to the function screen and select systemupdates-ps_icn_settings-us-02sept1 (Settings) > [System] > [System Information]. If the version number of the system update file you used for updating the system is displayed in the [System Software] field, this means that the update was completed successfully.

Update using the Internet

The following things are needed to perform the update:

  • PlayStation®4 system
  • Internet connection (wired or wireless)
    Before using the network update feature, you must configure your PS4™ system's network settings. For details, refer to the
    user's guide for your PS4™ system.

From the function screen, select  (Settings) > [System Software Update]. Your system automatically checks over the Internet whether you have the latest version of the system software. If there is an update file for a later version, it is downloaded to the system. When downloading is complete, a notification message is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. From the function screen, select  (Notifications) > [Downloads], and then follow the screens to perform the installation.

Update using a disc

The following things are needed to perform the update:

  • PlayStation®4 system
  • A disc that contains an update file

When you play a disc that contains a later version of the system software, a screen is displayed to guide you through the update process. Follow the screens to perform the update.

Update using a computer

For the standard update procedure, follow the steps below. Visit here for the procedure to initialize your PS4™ system and perform a new installation of the system software, such as for when you replace the hard disk drive.

The following things are needed to perform the update:

  • PlayStation®4 system
  • Computer connected to the Internet
  • USB storage device, such as a USB* flash drive
    * There must be approximately 320 MB of free space.
    • On the USB storage device, create folders for saving the update file.
      Using a computer, create a folder named "PS4". Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE".
    • Download the update file, and save it in the "UPDATE" folder you created in
      step 1. Save the file with the file name "PS4UPDATE.PUP".

       Click to start the download.
    • Connect the USB storage device that the update file is saved on to your PS4™ system, and then from the function screen, select systemupdates-ps_icn_settings-us-02sept1 (Settings) > [System Software Update].
      Follow the screens to complete the update.
  • If your PS4™ system does not recognize the update file, check that the folder names and file name are correct. Enter the folder names and file name in single-byte characters using uppercase letters.
Perform a New Installation of the System Software

This procedure is for initializing your PS4™ system and performing a new installation of the system software, such as for when you replace the hard disk drive.

  • Be careful when using an update file for reinstallation. All users and all data will be deleted.

The following things are needed to perform the update:

  • PlayStation®4 system
  • Computer connected to the Internet
  • USB storage device, such as a USB* flash drive
    * There must be approximately 900 MB of free space.
    • On the USB storage device, create folders for saving the update file.
      Using a computer, create a folder named "PS4". Inside that folder, create another folder named "UPDATE".
    • Download the update file, and save it in the "UPDATE" folder you created in step 1.
      Save the file with the file name "PS4UPDATE.PUP".

       Click to start the download.
    • Turn off the power of your PS4™ system completely.
      Check that the power indicator is not lit. If the power indicator is lit up in orange, touch the power button on the PS4™ system for at least 7 seconds (until the system beeps a second time).
    • Connect the USB storage device that the update file is saved on to your PS4™ system, and then touch the power button for at least 7 seconds.
      The PS4™ system starts in safe mode.
    • Select [Initialize PS4 (Reinstall System Software)].
      Follow the screens to complete the update.
  • If your PS4™ system does not recognize the update file, check that the folder names and file name are correct. Enter the folder names and file name in single-byte characters using uppercase letters.

i ssaw this and im really happy that theey added in the appear offline option cause i use it to troll my friends >:)
